A comtemporary take on the Little Black Dress

The little black dress has come a long way since Coco Chanel first designed it. A simple black short cocktail dress with an understated cut has now transformed and interpreted in various ways by other designers.

However, the intensions remain synonymous. The LBD is a design that was intended to long lasting, versatile, affordable and accessible to a wide market.

We find our self often turn to the LBD when we just don’t seem to find anything to wear, over time it has become the quintessential item of clothing in every girls closet. We believe LBD is a “must have”.  We have listed our fav LBD’s designed by our very own, which are now available for purchase on http://www.thehlabel.com.

For example, worn with a jacket and pumps for day time business wear or with more ornate jewelry and accessories for evening.

This LBD by ‘Swetha.D’  is enhanced with box pleated flare of black and off-white stripes and pink bow detailing at the back gives the dress character.

This knee-length LBD’s are for those of us who are not very comfortable with the mini cut. Both these dresses are adorned with an ethnic element, but still look contemporary in their own way.

Our designer, ‘Brindya Thapa’ crafted this LBD in the rich cotton silk fabric and adorned it with a chic back cutout with multicolor embroidered panel. The crochet adornment near the waist adds more appeal to the attire.

‘Aparna Deshpande’ and ‘Rachna Battipally’ used accents of blue while designing the LBD’s. This is definitely a perfect attire for formal evening out.

Remaining true to its nature, these designs by Swetha.D are perfect examples.

TEXTILE DE-TOUR

https://www.thehlabel.com/A Magnificent Trip to Mangalgiri !!
At HAMSTECH, we encourage students to discover different textiles and textures. Staying in a textile rich country makes our job more enjoyable and pleasurable. Today we analyses one of the textiles close to home.
Mangalgiri is located about 12 km from Vijayawada and it is a prominent pilgrimage center in Andhra Pradesh. It is very famous in producing unique Mangalgiri Cotton sarees/dresses with a stylish Jari border. Traditional Mangalgiri cotton sari/dresses are characterized by a plain body with contrasting Jari border. Mangalgiri cotton is a rich fabric, with a high count and fast colours, which gives it’s a silky texture and it is designed to suit all climates.
Production
Mangalgiri cotton is produced by the cotton yarn that is purchased from the mills. This cotton yarn is then boiled in water and caustic soda for a couple of hours before it is suitable for dyeing. If the yarn is to produce white coloured sarees, then it is bleached before weaving, else chemical dyes are used. After dyeing, the yarn is then sun dried before it is all set for the weaving process.
Since these sarees only have a Jari border and Jari on the pallu without any woven designs on the main body of the saree, therefore the fabric is woven only on pit looms, which enables the weaver to exert much more force during the weaving process without any gaps. This is what distinguishes the Mangalgiri textiles from other weaves.

Mangalgiri at THEHLablel :
There have been a lot of attempts to modernize the Mangalgiri Cotton. Apart from the exquisite saree creations, the Mangalgiri dress materials have a high global demand too. It is great to see that the new generation enjoys wearing cotton, and embracing comfort and style.  Mangalgiri can be used in a lot of western wear, and our designer Rachana Battipally’s collection does just the same.
